Chaplain Major James C. Messer

Rev. James C. Messer

Rev. James C. Messer is an Ordained Minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  He serves as Pastor at Morningside Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Evansville, Indiana and C.E.O. of Lighthouse Counseling Services Inc. in Henderson, Kentucky, with offices in Owensboro, Madisonville, Morganfield, and Greenville, Kentucky.  Rev. Messer received a B.A. from Bethel University McKenzie, Tennessee in 1978 was ell as a Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee in 1982.

He is retired from military service after 23 years of service with the Kentucky National Guard as a Chaplain Major. He served on three different deployments during his career.

• 1999-2000 Bosnia Herzegovina, with 21 TAC Heidelberg Germany.
• 2002-2003 Bosnia Herzegovina, with 2/123 KYNG Army.
• 2006-2007 Kuwait, Iraq with 36 Combat Aviation TXNG.

Chaplain Messer served on several task force operations in support of natural disasters in Kentucky, including three floods, two tornadoes, and an ice storm.  He was also called to New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina.

Rev. Messer is a certified autonomous domestic violence treatment provider with Lighthouse Counseling Services in serving eleven counties in Western Kentucky.  He is married to Janet, his wife of 41 years with two children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren
